Moyses Gate

In 1776 the corporation made an order for the demolition of Moyse's Gate, Norton's Gate, Colby's Gate, and Steel's Gate, giving as a reason that they were " very hurtful to the fishing nets going on and off the Denes on account of the nails in those gates prejecting out!" Surely if there had been no better reason, the nails might have been removed. (P.viii.p22)
