Rampired Wall Walk

It is to be regretted that this walk was not preserved. An attempt was made to do so in 1621, when the corporation passed a resolution that "the inhabitants should have the walks round the town walls as anciently, and all places stopped should be opened," notwithstanding which the encroachers prevailed. The towers also should never have been allowed to pass into private hands.
