By Colin Tooke
This collectio of nearly 200 old photographs of Great Yarmouth and Gorleston clearly illustrates some of the many changes that have taken place in this busy community over the last one hundred years.
Using mainly photogrphs that have never before appeared in print the author has assembled a sequece of images that provide a vivid pictorial history of many aspects of the area now forgotten, including the fishing industry, old shops, railways, public houses, transport and of course, the sea-side.
The images, taken from old postcars and a variety of other sources, span a date range from the latter part of the nineteenth century to the post-war years, even including examples of town centre redevelopment in the 1970s.
