Great Yarmouth At War
By Colin Tooke & David Scales
During the Second World War the east coast town of Great Yarmouth suffered more bombing from the Luftwaffe than any other coastal town in the country. The official record of these raids was published shortly after the War as `Front Line Town“ by the Chief Constable, Charles Box.
In 1970 David Scales embarked upon a project to record the War years in greater detail. In the course of his research Miss Rosa Bull came forward with a remarkable collection of diaries and newspaper cuttings. This research was deposited in Great Yarmouth library and now forms the basis for this book.
